1. Cultivating Cotton

4. Spinning

This web is then drawn into rovings, which are further stretched and finally spun into yarn. The spinning process can vary slightly depending on the desired thickness and strength of the yarn.

5. Weaving or Knitting

With yarn produced, the next phase is turning these threads into fabric, either through weaving or knitting. Weaving involves interlacing two sets of yarns at right angles to each other to form a cloth, typically done on looms. Knitting, on the other hand, consists of interlocking yarn loops, which results in fabric with a more elastic nature, like that used in t-shirts and sweaters.

6. Processing and Finishing

After weaving or knitting, the raw fabric undergoes several finishing processes. These can include bleaching, dyeing, and printing to enhance the fabric's appearance, texture, and resistance to fading. Additionally, treatments might be applied to improve the fabric's performance characteristics such as wrinkle resistance, water repellency, or shrinkage control.

7. Quality Control

Throughout the production process, quality control is critical. At each stage, the cotton fabric is inspected for defects and tested for quality to ensure that it meets industry standards and consumer expectations.

8. Distribution

Once the cotton fabric has passed quality control, it is rolled, packed, and distributed to fashion manufacturers and textile companies worldwide. These entities transform the fabric into the final products, such as clothing, bedding, and more, that make their way to consumer markets.
